a day in hong kong

currently i'm sitting in the very lavish 4 star lobby of our grand hotel, while eva sleeps on a chair next to me. it has been a good day for the most part. I'v realised that You do not need to do the touristy things to get a feel for HK. The three things we were told that were the "must do" things in hong kong, and that we planned to do were, star ferry, stanley market, and the peak, we did one of those things over last night and today, and even that was rather brief. Stanley market incase your wondering. But i have thoroughly enjoyed myself. Just walking through the streets, getting on buses, seeing the culture over here. I've always had an interest in chinese culture, and coming to HK has just lit a flame under that interest.

Last night we just walked around, the city was awe inspiring with the collosal buildings, and the light shows on each one. was awesome. the only thing that put a dampner on the night was the insanely expensive cost of a pint, and to add to that, after buying a "carry oot" instead of paying rediculous prices, one of the cans burst in eva's back and seems to have ruined her pro camera. which is a major blow. especially at the start of the trip. however even that couldn't dampen our spirits! we were still having a great time last night. :D

so after only a few hours sleep, we got up this morning. well... it took us a while, so already our plans had an early set back. but anyway, we managed to drag ourselves out of bed, ready to start the day. showered and dressed, we packed our cases, or re-packed i should say, and tidied up a bit. by this point eva had started to feel a bit ill, but we were both starving and so we set off, first stop, check out, only expense was the internet from last night -
- where we got a chance to see and talk to eva's family on webcam with windows messenger, all the way from hong kong! so that was awesome! hi guys if your reading this! :D was good to see you all! :D -
and then they stored our luggage for free. so breakfast, cost $142 each... which made my jaw hit the floor at first... but then it was an open buffet, and probably the largest and best breakfast buffet i have ever seen! i think i ate 2 whole pigs. yum. best hash browns i'v ever had. - eva's awake now, so i'll let her continue our story.....
I went for the healthy choice and opted from fruit - pineapples and melon. Which is now dotted around HK thanks to my jet lag making me ill all day. thats another reason why we didnt get around much because i spent half the time stopping and sitting down to try and make me feel better. The look around Stanley market was brief, but i really enjoyed it. Stuart and I have decided that chinese babys are the cutest kind and are thinking about kidnapping one before we leave :P - Like brad and angelina, except better looking...

- so yeah obviously eva is better at these than me, i can't help but want to tell a whole story, where as eva manages to summerise expertly and not bore you all like I'm sure I do.

so yeah she pretty much said it all, we wondered down to times square and had a look around the city some more, which is around when eva started to get really ill, so we headed back to the hotel, and payed $42 - which is almost £4 i think, for a 30cl bottle of evian water.... at stanley we saw a litre bottle for $19- like £1.60ish i think. rage. we sat outside and a really nice old asian man saw eva bein sick and brought her tissues and some fruit.

we Headed to stanley when Eva felt a bit better, at stanley we did have to stop often, the market was a great atmosphere and it was really buzzing, but it was hot, insanely crowded and stuffy, so I have to say Eva proved her strength today, managing to battle through that was amazing and I'm really proud of her. Thanks to her courage, we managed to make something from what otherwise would have been a wasted day, and i think we both had a really good time.

and so my story for today comes to an end, I'm am signing off this and going straight for a taxi, and then its another long hall virgin flight.

see you all in Sydney!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

So happy to know that my old home town lived up to expectations. You can catch the Star Ferry another time it's been running for over a 100 years so you have time. Give your big sis a hug from me. Lorraine
