The Big Bang.

Decided to update this as we havent in a while!

Christmas Day -
Stuart had to work Christmas morning in the cake shop as apparently it is one of the busiest days of the year, and people began fighting over bread! Sounds too crazy for me at Christmas! Presents were good, we had been sent some out from our families, so we had something to open, rather than the things we had got each other. I got some really sexy high heels from Stuart, and a stunning dress from Katherine. Stuart got 'Little Big Planet' for his playstation and a new aftershave, and we got Kat a dvd player.

We spent the day on Bondi Beach with Erin and it was absolutley mobbed! Bondi is normally busy, but we hadn't seen it this busy before! It was quite surreal seeing people walking about on the beach on a perfect day - wearing santa hats!

After the day at the beach we went for a barbeque for our Christmas dinner. We tucked into a feast of kangaroo, sausages, chicken, shrimps, and still had loads left over! We were almost too full for a slice of cake from the shop Stuart works in.

The lead up to New Year
Boxing day was spent at Palm Beach, which is where they film Home and Away, we never saw any of the actors or actresses in it though! Was a beautiful day, all except me went for a surf.

I also went with Katherine and Erin to Balmoral one day, which is our local beach, it was really busy, obviously everyone had the same idea as us! Stuart had to work, so he never joined us. We had a picnic and sunbathed.

Stuarts work had a Christmas Party, after Christmas, which I was invited to. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, everyone that works there seemed very nice. They baked lots of yummy food for us to eat and a big bowl of punch to drink, along with a few crates of beer. They really put a lot into preparing it, especially seeing as its such a small shop.

Me, drinking all the punch.

Because Katherine had to work over Christmas her boss, Mike, took us out for the day on his speedboat. Stuart got extremely burnt while we were sitting out the front of the boat. You dont realise how hot it is because of the speed you are going at. It was a really nice boat, he was telling us how he used to have a really big boat and him, and his family used to spend weekends just out on the boat.

We spent an hour or two just cruising about before he got his inflatable 'Brian' out. Brian is a big inflateable U shaped thing that you tie to the boat and it pulls along behind. The idea is that you sit in the U, hold on as tight as you can and see how long you last before you fall out. Kat had a go first, lasted quite a while! It looked incredibly difficult. After a few sharp twists and turns she fell off. Stuart and I put on our life jackets and decided to both go in at the same time, there was enough handles on the U to do so. We almost fell off a few times, eventually we went crashing into the water as we did our heads collided. I just thought it was a little bump, but as we resurfaced I saw Stuarts head was bleeding a little and he looked terrified, as did Mike and Kat back on the boat, they helped me in and straight away put a towel on my head and told me to press. I had gotten a large gash on my head, just above my right eyebrow. We headed straight back to the boat shed area and two first aiders came and cleaned up my cut and he put a plaster on it, just to keep it clean and keep the skin together until I got it seen to.

As you can see no little plaster would do for this war wound. so we rushed back in mike's very nice car, and got ourselves straight to a doctors. No NHS here thats for sure. so after filling out forms and sitting in the waiting room for a lil bit and me spending all my money on the phone to a not so bright older sounding woman from the travel insurance "emergency line", eva gets called into the room, aprehensive as anyone would be about gettin a needle put through their cut skin several times, but thankfully after having a look at it the nurse said some glue would be enough. So eva lay there while the doc poured some pva onto the open wound, followed by some butterfly stitches and a plaster to protect it all.

New Years
We were excited about being two of the first million people to see in 2009. On the afternoon of the 31st we went to Cremorne Point to find where two of our friends from travels, Liz and Lisa were. It took us quite a while to find them, Cremorne was extremely busy! People had been camped out for hours to get the best view of the harbour for the fireworks that evening. We spent an hour or so catching up and enjoying the sun before heading back to Mosman for dinner.

We went back to Cremorne Point for the 9o'clock fireworks. As the first fireworks went off, there was a tremendous cheer, coming from all around Sydney, it was incredible! I had never heard anything like it. From where we were standing we had a perfect view of the Opera House and its fireworks, there was also fire works coming from the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and another point further east in Sydney. They were amazing. We wandered on to meet back up with Liz and Lisa and their friends for the Midnight ones. We tucked into a few beers and chatted to some new people, every so often there was a short burst of fireworks, to remind us the new year was getting closer and closer.

The midnight fireworks were amazing, I have never seen anything like it! I felt so glad to be one of the 1.5million people that turned up to see it. The fireworks to celebrate the start of 2009 cost $5million and took 15 months to plan. The theme was 'Creation'. I cant describe them so Im going to post some photos (thanks Katy) and Ill try to post the video Stuart took at a later date.
I'd like to say, the photos do not do the fireworks justice, neither would any video, you have to be there to understand just how amazing it is!

That is all!
